ABOUT

WHO AM I?

My name is Jimmy O’Donnell. I was born in Wales but of Irish descent and I have lived in Lancashire for most of my 50 years. I qualified as a social worker (CQSW) with a social science degree from Coventry in 1990 and have also worked variously as a youth worker, school chaplain and high school teacher (QTS in 2006). I have a Certificate in Theology from Durham University (2005) and am a Dementia Friends Champion.
September 2016 saw me decide to leave teaching and take my great ‘leap of faith’ into full-time work on my Lancashire Memories project as I believe it is something that is vital and that I can do well. I am loving watching the difference that my work can make to the lives of many people of different ages, especially those living with dementia.
